The Digital Media Academy is a collaboratively taught digital production camp for rising 6th grade girls in the Louisville, KY area. During this camp, participants engage with and create a variety of digital and multimodal media including photo stories, videos, and audio recordings.
The theme of the 2017 camp, "Me in the Making," encouraged girls to critically engage with social issues in their communities and to reflect on the question of what it means to be a girl in Louisville today. Campers chose to explore themes such as bullying, body positivity, and gender stereotypes as they collaborated on 3-5 minute-long videos that were presented at a public showcase.
