Scientific and Technical Writing

Excerpted Course Description

This section of English 303  emphasizes “design thinking” as a way to frame the exigencies, processes, and applications of scientific and technical writing. In addition to design thinking operating as a frame for the major work of the class, we will also explore this concept in readings, class discussions, and informal writing. Students in this class  complete 4-6 major writing projects, both individually and collaboratively, in a variety of genres under the broad umbrella of "scientific and technical writing" including: grant proposals, literature reviews and research abstracts, and public science articles.
